2010 - 2011 Student/Parent Handbook

is ready for viewling!

The handbook is available online only and will not be found in the student planner.

Dear Friends of San Miguel High School,

Although school’s out for the summer, the San Miguel staff is hard at work getting ready
for the beginning of the 2010-2011 school year, which officially starts August 9th (the
first day of school). This includes cleaning, computer maintenance, making CIP job
assignments and the training and inputting of data into PowerSchool. This new student
information system will improve communication among all the stakeholders involved in
our students’ education. Thanks to Jorge Rascon, Alex Gamez, Art Fernandez, Ahlan
Taylor, Mark Neimeyer, Bianca Aguilar, Mari Calalang, Br. Jonathan Cord, Arcenio
Trujillo, Larry Moskal and Christine Miranda for their help with these much needed
tasks. Thanks also to Karan Stewart and Thad Dugan who headed up the three-week
Summer Bridge Program to help incoming freshmen transition to high school. It is
inspiring to see the improvements in core skills gained by this group in three short weeks.
Congratulations to incoming freshmen, Javier Madrid and Maria Antonieta Morales-
Lozano, who were selected by the St. Mary’s University of Minnesota to participate
in their Countdown to College summer program. This program, which is designed to
prepare and motivate first generation students to be “college bound”, begins the summer
before their freshman year and continues each summer of their high school career. St.
Mary’s University is picking up all their expenses, except airfare, which Mr. Jim Click
has graciously agreed to donate.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations and is ready to gear up and produce
the excellent results San Miguel has become famous for. I especially hope that Biology
teacher, Br. Dan Fenton, and Adonis Trujillo and Jose Herrera, of the Class of 2009, are
enjoying their month in the Philippines, where they are volunteering their services at the
Bahay Pag-asa Youth Center.

We are still accepting applications for students through July 26th. If you have
or know of any “strong” students who might be interested in coming to San
Miguel, please have them contact Francisco Moreno at 294-6403 ext. 1110 or
admissions@sanmiguelhigh.org.

Blessings,
Leslie Shutlz-Crist

Angel Charities

One of the ways Angels will be raising funds for San Miguel High School is through their highly popular Angel Charities Chance Ticket Raffle.  This raffle is a spectacular opportunity for you to win fantastic prizes.  The winner’s pool consists of approximately 100 Grand Prizes, including cash, travel, jewelry and fabulous gift certificates.  Each Grand Prize has a value of between $1,000 and $15,000.  Because only 1500 tickets are sold, approximately one out of every fifteen tickets sold will be a winner!  Additionally, all tickets purchased prior to October 16, 2010 will also be entered into an early bird drawing, with a $1,000 cash prize.
